Manage Donor Constituencies Criteria
From Constituents, Constituencies, manage the criteria for Donor, Loyal donor, and Major donor constituencies based on your organization's policies. These settings ensure Altru uses the constituencies consistently, such as in constituent records and selections.
When a constituent first makes a donation, Altru automatically applies the Donor constituency to the constituent. You can edit the Donor constituency criteria to choose whether to only apply it to constituents who have given in a number of recent years, or to those who have given since a specific date.
You can also define criteria to determine when a constituent should be considered:
-
A Loyal donor, for constituents who donate within a specified period of time, such as a certain number of consecutive years.
-
A Major donor, based on a constituent’s total lifetime giving or largest donation.
Tip: In addition to donor constituencies, Altru automatically applies a donor status to constituents based on giving history to further define your donors.
Note: Only revenue types included in your organization's default revenue filter are counted towards totals for donor constituencies.

-
From Constituents, select Constituencies under Configuration.
-
Under Donor constituency criteria, select Edit and choose whether to consider recognition credits in the totals for the donor constituency definitions.
-
Under Constituencies, select Donor, then select Edit constituency criteria. Choose the time frame in which a constituent must have donated to receive the constituency.
-
To apply to a constituent who has donated within a number of recent years, select Constituent has given in recent years, then enter the number of years within which the constituent must have donated.
-
To apply to a constituent who has donated since a specific date, select Constituent has given since a specific date and enter the date after which a constituent must have last donated.
-
-
Save your changes.
-
For Loyal donor definition, edit the constituency and enter the number of consecutive years or months within which a constituent must donate to receive the constituency.
-
For Major donor definition, edit the constituency and configure the criteria.
-
To apply based on the lifetime giving of a constituent, select Has lifetime giving greater than or equal to and enter the minimum total lifetime giving.
-
To apply based on the largest donation of a constituent, select Has a largest donation greater than or equal to and enter the minimum amount of a largest donation.
Note: If you select both lifetime giving and largest donation criteria, Altru assigns the Major donor constituency to a donor who meets either criteria. Altru doesn't require a donor meet both minimum amounts to have a constituency of Major donor.
-
After you save these settings, the constituencies of Donor, Loyal donor, and Major donor automatically apply to constituents who meet your criteria.
