Manage Fiscal Years
If your organization uses the Altru general ledger, before you add transactions, you must first establish fiscal years from Financials, Fiscal years. When you create a journal entry, the transaction appears in the period and fiscal year determined by the post date. Journal entries must balance by fiscal period.

-
From the Fiscal Years page, select Add next or Add previous.
Tip: To create a new entry based on info saved for an existing fiscal year, you can copy the existing fiscal year instead. Expand the row and select Copy.
-
Enter a name and description.
-
Select the number of periods in the fiscal year. For example, to divide the year by 12 months, select 12.
-
Enter the start and end dates for each period.
Tip: To auto-fill the periods based on the start date and number of periods selected, select Auto-complete.
Note: The start date for period 1 is enabled only on the first fiscal year. For subsequent years, this date is automatically set based on the end date of the previous fiscal year. All other period start dates are set based on the end date of the previous period.
-
To prevent transactions from being added to a period, mark it as closed. You can reopen at a later date, if necessary.
-
Select Save.

To edit a fiscal year, expand the row and select Edit. Make changes as needed, then save.
Note: You can edit only open or soft-closed fiscal years.

You can delete a fiscal year if it has no associated activity. Expand the row, select Delete, and confirm changes.
