Configure Workstation Payment Terminals

For additional security and fraud protection when processing card-present credit card payments, your organization can choose to use EMV-certified payment terminals at its workstations.

Payment terminals are available to organizations who process credit card payments through Blackbaud Merchant Services . In addition to accepting credit and debit cards, payment terminals are EMV (chip) enabled and support contactless payment options such as tap-to-pay and digital wallets.

To use an EMV-certified payment terminal, you must first register the device through the Blackbaud Merchant Services Web Portal under Terminal devices, Register terminals. Then, enable it from the workstation's record in Altru.

Warning: To pay for recurring transactions, supporters must use a credit or debit card. For digital wallets (such as Apple Pay and Google Pay), only one-time payments are supported.

Note: Credit card payments made via a contactless method — such as tap-to-pay and mobile wallets — appear in Altru with "No Name" under the cardholder name field. This is a policy instituted by the major credit card companies and designed to prevent personal information from being extracted.
