Credit Card Updater

Credit Card Updater from Blackbaud Merchant Services helps you avoid disruptions in recurring giving by keeping your supporters' credit cards up to date. When new card info is available, Credit Card Updater automatically and securely updates the card in your Blackbaud solution. This minimizes the loss of recurring payments and saves you significant time on donor outreach and data entry.

Card details are reviewed:

  • In real time when cardholders submit payments. For example, if a cardholder uses an updated credit card number to pay for a donation, Credit Card Updater automatically updates the card if its info is stored in your Blackbaud solution.

  • Weekly for cards stored for recurring payments. For example, if an expired credit card is on file for a recurring gift, Credit Card Updater will automatically update the stored card info during its weekly scan if a new expiration date is available.

Note: Blackbaud partners with Visa Account Updater, Mastercard Automatic Billing Updater, Discover Network Account Updater, and American Express Cardrefresher to deliver the service, which is widely used in the business-to-consumer industry. Only credit cards issued by banks who participate in the service are eligible for updates.

Credit Card Updater automatically runs for all Blackbaud Merchant Services accounts and is included in your standard rate. Reporting is coming soon to the Blackbaud Merchant Services Web Portal; in the meantime, you can run reports from your Blackbaud solution.
