Recalculation Considerations

Recalculations and adjustments may occur when you edit certain fields on a transaction record. For example, when the field you edit is associated with your selection in the Calculated using field (when defining segments), a recalculation or adjustment occurs.

For not yet posted transactions, the program recalculates the GL distribution. For posted transactions, the program creates an adjustment.

Recalculations and adjustments occur when you edit fields on the transaction since they could have ledger implications based on how those fields are mapped.

Recalculations may also occur in the following scenarios:

  • When you edit a transaction and select a different constituent, the constituency associated with the constituent may be recalculated.

  • When you edit an event record, the event category may be recalculated.

  • When you edit a designation, the fundraising purpose and purpose category may be recalculated.
