Edit the Donor Criteria for Lifecycle Values
When a constituent first has revenue activity with your organization, the program automatically applies a constituency of Donor to the constituent. You can configure the constituency of Donor to apply to only constituents who donate within a specified period of time, such as of a certain date or within a certain number of years. This time frame determines who your organization considers to be a donor such as in query selections or for analysis.
Note: To determine which revenue transactions to include for revenue activity calculations for lifecycle values, the program uses the default revenue filter. For information about revenue filters, see the Revenue section of the help file.
The program can also assign the lifecycle values Loyal donor and Mid-level donor to constituents based on their overall revenue activity with your organization. From Constituents, you can configure the revenue activity the program includes in calculations for the Donor constituency and its lifecycle values.
From Constituents, select Donor lifecycle criteria under Configuration. The Donor Lifecycle Criteria page appears.
Select the Lifecycles Criteria tab.
Under Donor, select Edit on the action bar. The Edit lifecycle donor criteria screen appears.
Under Donor, select whether to apply the constituency of Donor to constituents with any revenue activity or those with activity within only a specific number of years or since a specific date.
If you select Constituents with revenue activity within a specified number of years are ‘Donors’, enter the number of years a constituent must have a revenue transaction to receive the Donor constituency.
If you select Constituents with revenue activity since a specific date are ‘Donors’, select the date after which a constituent must have last given a transaction to receive a constituency of Donor.
Select whether to consider recognition credits when the program calculates revenue for the Donor lifecycle values.
Note: The program automatically assigns the lifecycle values of First year donor, Multiple year donor, and Consecutive years donors to Donor constituents based on patterns in their revenue activity with your organization. For information about these values, see Lifecycle Values and Donor States.
Under Loyal, to assign the Loyal donor value to constituents with revenue transactions over a specific number of consecutive years, select Constituents with revenue activity within a specified number of consecutive years are ‘Loyal donors’. In the Number of years field, enter the number of consecutive years to consider for the Loyal donor value.
To assign the Loyal donor value to constituents with revenue transactions within a specific number of years during a recent range of years, select Constituents with revenue activity within the specified number of years in a defined range are ‘Loyal donors’, and enter the number of years and range to consider for the Loyal donor value. For example, to assign the Loyal donor value to constituents who donate within three years over the past six years, enter “3” out of the past “6”.
Under Mid-level, enter the minimum revenue amount a constituent must have within a single year to receive the value of Mid-level donor.
Select Save. You return to the Donor Lifecycle Criteria page.
After you configure the criteria for lifecycle values, you must run a process to assign the values accordingly. For information about this process, see Update Lifecycle Values.
