Add a direct marketing effort
1. From Marketing and Communications, click Marketing efforts. The Marketing efforts page appears.
2. Click Add a direct marketing effort. The Add marketing effort screen opens to the General tab. For information about the items on this screen, see Edit Marketing Effort Screen.
3. On the General tab, you can define basic information about the marketing effort as well householding options. For more information about the items on this screen, see Edit Marketing Effort Screen.
4. Select the Source Code tab. On this tab, you specify a source code layout, and specific components of the source code, such as Campaign, Marketing Effort, Segment, and Package.
5. Select the Universe tab. On this tab, you specify which records should be explicitly included in the marketing effort. After you save the marketing effort you can change the settings you establish here if necessary.
6. Select the Exclusions tab. On this tab, you specify which records should be explicitly excluded from the marketing effort. There are two types of exclusions: Exclusion Selections and Previous Marketing Effort Exclusions.
7. Select the Contact rules tab to enter information about any exclusions for this marketing effort.
8. Select the Address processing tab to define the address and name formats to use for the marketing effort. For example, you can add a unique address processing option set for your holiday appeal.
9. Select the Activation tab to set the marketing effort to export automatically after its activated. You can also assign an appeal and choose the default export definitions to use for any packages that do not have an export definition defined.
10. Select the KPIs tab to choose which KPIs to track for the marketing effort.
11. Select the Business units tab to add business units to your marketing effort. In the Business unit column select the business unit to include. In the % credit for revenue column, enter the percent of any resulting revenue to attribute to each unit. To distribute the amount evenly, click Split evenly; to credit each unit with the full amount click Split fully.
12. To close the screen and save the information you entered, click Save. When you save the marketing effort, a record is created for it and you are taken to that record. For more information, see Marketing Effort Records.
