Edit Seating Charts

Before you enter attendance with a seating chart, you must set up your seating charts. From the navigation bar, under Attendance, select Edit seating charts. The Seating charts page appears.

Select the term and class in which you want to set up a seating chart.

To seat a student, drag and drop the student into an empty chair in the chart. In an empty chair, you can also click Add student to select the student from a dropdown list.

Tip: Only students actively enrolled in the class appear.

To remove a student from a seat, drag and drop the student to the Remove student from seat button.

Seating chart helpful tips:

When you drag a student to the seating chart, the empty chair cell highlights in green to indicate which seat you are on.
If you keep your students in the same seat assignment from one term to the next, click Copy from previous term. The seat assignments from the term directly previous to the current term copy.
To clear the seating chart and start over with seat assignments, click Clear all.
The terms and classes that appear are based on the My Classes settings you chose on the Home page.
To view a printer-friendly version of the seating chart, click Print. If the seating chart is empty, a blank seating chart appears.

Tip: If you just set up your seating chart, you may need to leave the Seating charts page and return to print a seating chart with all the students in their newly assigned seat.

When you assign all students to a seat, the Students without seats box disappears.
Your seating chart automatically saves after any edits. For example, after you drag and drop a student into a seat, the seating chart saves.
In the seating chart, if you click the student's name, you can view student information such as biographical and class schedule information.

Tip: Student images appear in the seating chart, student record, and alerts if you upload images to the student record in Registrar’s Office. You cannot upload student images directly to Faculty Access for the Web.
