Internet Browser & Device Settings
Tip: For the most complete and current information about your browser's functions, visit your browser's help or support community.
We encourage you to consider your browser and your device (computer, smart phone, tablet) as part of your workspace. You can set up your digital environment to increase efficiency, similar to how you might adjust your physical environment (desk, office, classroom, chair, lighting). You'll use an internet browser from your device to access and use Blackbaud Education Management and other cloud solutions.
You may even use your browser and device settings to navigate and make selections. For example, you might use the "forward" and "back" buttons to return to pages or functions you recently visited. You might use keyboard or browser shortcuts to move your cursor, select options, and enter data without using a mouse or touch screen.
Consider using your browser's bookmarks or favorites function to create a shortcut to the login screen for your school's instance of Blackbaud Education Management and to your school's public facing website.
If your internet browser is more than one version old, performance may be reduced. Beta versions of internet browsers are not fully supported.
To ensure your browser is fully supported, use the latest version of:
-
Google Chrome
-
Safari
Tip: Users who use Safari as an internet browser may have trouble with how the TAB key functions when they attempt to login. To fix it, we recommend updating the browser setting. From your Safari browser menu, select Preferences and choose Advanced. Then enable the Press Tab to highlight each item on a webpage option. This change may reduce your need to use a mouse to manually select Next. It enables you to use theTAB key to advance your cursor to the item you want to select to continue to log in. Without this change, the TAB key will instead select the URL address bar at the top of your Safari browser window.

Mozilla Firefox
-
Microsoft Edge
Users rely on their internet browsers to check the spelling of any text that they enter. The most recent versions most browsers include a spell checker, which is usually often enabled by default.
The checkers typically indicate each possible spelling error with a red, squiggly, underline.
If your spelling errors are not automatically corrected or indicated, please turn it on. Check your browser's settings for this option.
-
For Google Chrome, select the Menu button (it may look like a vertical ellipsis of three dots in the upper right corner) and then select Settings. Scroll down and then select Advanced settings. For Privacy, enable the Use a web service to help resolve spelling errors option.
-
For Mozilla Firefox, select the Menu button and then select Options. Scroll down. Under Language, enable the Check my spelling as I type option.
-
For Apple Safari, select the Menu button and then select Options. Scroll down. Under Language, enable the Check my spelling as I type option.
-
For other browsers or previous versions of browsers, you may need to install an add-on or plug-in. These versions may not be fully supported.
Tip: If you think your spell checker isn't accurate, look for a language or location setting for your browser settings or device. You may need to indicate whether to use spelling variations for the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, or Australia.
Tip: You may also want to review your options for Autocorrect, Predictive type, and Autofill if your keyboard seems to automatically enter data for you or changes the data as you enter it. Depending on your device, operating system, and apps, these options may be found in your browser, device, system preferences, keyboard, text, or language settings.
Consider creating a shortcut that "pins" your school's website or login page to the home screen of your smart phone or tablet. This will look like an icon or button for a mobile app. It helps you quickly access your instance of Blackbaud Education Management. Students and parents may access your site more regularly if they've placed it on their home screen near frequently used apps.
-
For an Android device, open the Google Chrome app. In the address bar, enter the desired URL and go to the desired website. Tap the Menu button (it may look like a vertical ellipsis of three dots in the upper right corner) and then select Add to home screen. Enter a name for the link (such as "My School Login") and then select Add.
-
For an iOS device, open the Sarfari app. In the address bar, enter the desired URL and go to the desired website. Tap the Share button (it may look like an rectangle with an arrow point upward from within) and then select Add to home screen. Enter a name for the link (such as "My School Login") and then select Add.
Users who want to download an app from an app "store" should use this process instead. The full solution is already built with responsive web design and will function on small mobile screens.
As a user, you can select Remember me on your school's login screen. This enables your browser to save your username to streamline your login experience. If your clear or reset this part of your browser's settings, you will be prompted to manually reenter your username as though it did not remember you.
For security reasons, the Remember me option, does not save passwords. We can't recommend a third party password manager tool.
Tip: If multiple users share a single device, we recommend you do not select Remember me.
You can configure some settings to your computer and browser that affect your experience within Blackbaud Education Management.
You can adjust the display settings of your screen to best fit your preferences and eye sight. Consider the brightness, contrast and resolution of your screen. For example, if the resolution is lower, objects on your screen appear large. The higher your resolution, the smaller the objects and the more that can fill your screen. If you find yourself squinting, select a lower resolution.
-
Microsoft Windows users can adjust their screen resolution through the display properties of the control panel settings.
-
Apple Mac OSX users can adjust the monitor display settings through system preferences.
-
Mobile devices can adjust display settings based on their specific operating system (Android, iOS) and device specifications.
You may want to hide or remove excess toolbars from your browser to ensure your workspace is uncluttered and to create more area on your screen to view your work.
You can also adjust your browser's "zoom" level. A larger zoom will show less information on screen. You may need to scroll more at large zooms.
You may even be able to change the default colors for text, backgrounds, links, and the style of fonts for your browser and device. Explore your device's accessibility settings and browser add ons or plug ins.
