General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a regulation that is being enforced across the European Union and the United Kingdom. The purpose of this regulation is to ensure that individuals have control over where their information is held and how it can be used.
Blackbaud's Education Management schools does not have built in functionality for GDPR compliance. However, your organization can action to change your setup to meet those requirements. These requirements include managing how your school handles each individual's Consent and Right to be Forgotten (or Right to Erasure)
Learn more general information about GDPR as it relates to Blackbaud solutions. Whether your organization needs to comply with GDPR or not will need to be determined by your organization. Broadly, any organization that targets specifically citizens of the EU or UK with marketing or outreach (such as by advertising, accepting EU currency, or using an EU language) are within the bounds of GDPR.
Tip: If your school targets international families, your school may need to take action to increase your compliance. If your school does not target international families, consult with your legal representative to determine whether the regulation may still apply to your school.
