Notifications
Throughout Blackbaud's education capabilities, many processes automatically generate corresponding notifications. Platform managers and communication managers can configure options which affect all notifications.
From Core, select Communications and then elect Notifications (New). A list of notifications appears.
Like other lists, you can

search

select which columns of data to view

drag and drop column headers to reorder the data

select column headers to sort the data
-
filter by criteria to limit the results shown
-
select some items in the list to view details
-
use the "more" menu (...) at the start of each row to view details about an item or edit it.
Users can opt in or out of some notifications.

From Core, select Communications and then elect Notifications (New). A list of notifications appears.

Show the Subscribed column.

Search the list for a notification.

On the notification's row, select the number of subscribers. A list of subscribers appears.

On the notification's row, select the number of not subscribed. A list of users who could subscribe, but have opted out appears.

To add more users to the notification, opt them in.

On the notification's row, select the number of not subscribed. A list of users who could subscribe, but have opted out appears.

Filter the list to limit the search results. Select column headings to reorder the data.
Then search for one or more users.

Select the users you want to opt in.

Select Subscribe.

To remove users from the notification, opt them out.

On the notification's row, select the number of subscribed. A list of subscribers appears.

Filter the list to limit the search results. Select column headings to reorder the data.
Then search for one or more users.

Select the users you want to opt out.

Select Unsubscribe.

From Core, select Communications and then elect Notifications (New). A list of notifications appears.

Search the list for a notification.

On the notification's row, select the "more" menu (...) and then select View.

Review the settings and content, including:
-
status (active, inactive)
-
notification name
-
recipients (roles)
-
whether recipients can opt out
-
email options, including the email address users will reply to and the email message
-
SMS options

Although you can customize the email and text notifications that are sent to subscribers, remember to keep the messages concise and somewhat generic. Include merge fields to add details specific to the notification.

From Core, select Communications and then elect Notifications (New). A list of notifications appears.

Search the list for a notification.

On the notification's row, select the "more" menu (...) and then select Edit.

To enable notifications, select Active.

Enter a descriptive name or title.

Select which user security Roles should receive this notification.

To enable users to control whether they receive the automatic message, select Recipients can opt out.

Select whether the notification should be sent by email. If so, configure the:
-
reply email address (for recipients to respond to),
-
from name (typically the school name),
-
an informative and attention-grabbing subject,
-
and email body. Use the options available to format the message.
Tip: To customize the subject message for each user, consider inserting the date, time, and other merge fields.
Warning: As a security best practice, we recommend schools avoid using any merge fields that contain user supplied data in email notifications.

Select whether the notification should be sent by email. If so, configure the message. To customize the message for each user, consider inserting merge fields.

Select Save & close.
A communications manager can view all previously sent notifications.

Select Core.

Select Communications .
-
Select Notifications.
-
Select Notification History.

Since there are many processes that generate notifications, you'll need to filter the possible types of notifications and when the notifications were sent. Select a Category, Type, and date range.

Select View to apply the filters and show the results.
