Create New Candidate
Admissions managers and staff can create new candidates by turning an existing constituent (e.g. a sibling who is already in the database) into a candidate. They can also attach a new candidate to a constituent who is already in the database (e.g. parents of an existing student).
Similar to other SKY list style areas with Blackbaud's Education management products, you can use the customizable filters and columns to tailor to display the information that you want. Candidate Criteria lets you either create a new candidate record for an existing user or Create a new child with a candidate record for an existing parent.
Tip: A person first needs to exist as a user before they can be made a candidate. If they're not yet in the Education management system, they can be created as a user from Core, User, and then Add a new User. Otherwise, follow the directions below under Enrollment management to turn an existing user into a candidate.

From the persona menu, select Enrollment management, then Admissions, Admissions management, and finally press Create Candidate.

Under Candidate criteria, select Make User a candidate. This option should be used when you want to search for a user to turn into a Candidate.

Either enter the name for the user or use the criteria search to populate the list with matching users.

From the list, select the user to whom you will be attaching the new candidate and then press Next.
Note: This list does not support bulk select so only 1 user can be selected from the list.

Select the candidate's Entering Grade, Entering Year, Checklist, Admissions Staff member (optional) and Interests (optional).

When all the information is entered, select Finish to create the Candidate Record.

From the persona menu, select Enrollment management, then Admissions, Admissions management, and finally press Create Candidate.

Select Add candidate to user. Unlike the other option, this one should be used when you want to search for a user to add information to for a candidate like a parent or someone else that a candidate will be attached to.

Either enter the name for the user or use the criteria search to populate a list of options.

From the list, select the user to whom you will be attaching the new candidate and then press Next.
Note: This list does not support bulk select so only 1 user can be selected from the list.

Under Candidate Information, Enter the candidate's first and last name.

Use the Admissions information section to add details like Entering grade, Entering year, Checklist, Admissions staff, and Interests. Keep in mind that only Entering grade, Entering year, and Checklist are required fields.

Under Candidate relationships, you can view relevant details for each existing user. Select it to modify the information, but keep in mind that Non-parental relationships have more customization options, as parent/child relationships are locked as a Parent for the Relationship to new candidate option.

Select List as parent if the user should appear as the candidate's parent in reports, lists, mail labels, etc.

Select Grant parental access if the user should have parent rights (e.g. have the ability to view the candidate's checklist items and decision on the portal).

If this user is going to be the Responsible Signer, make sure to select this field.

Select Finish to save the new information or Cancel to go back.

Create Candidate offers two ways to search for specific users. If you know the exact person, type in their name from the search bar, select the matching option from the results that appear and then press Add to list.
Alternatively, you can use the User criteria option to pull in more than one user based on specific parameters like Grad year, Role, User ID, and more. If you use this option, at least 1 criteria must be used.
