Gradebook

Gradebooks are where faculty record daily grades for assignments, graded discussions, assessments, and other types of student work. Gradebook grades can be used to calculate grade columns for grade reports. To access a class gradebook from Faculty, select Classes, choose a class, then select Launch gradebook.

Grade report grades, or grade columns, are entered in Grading, typically at the end of a term.

Faculty enter two main types of grades, assignment grades and grade report grades.

  • Assignment grades for quizzes, tests, projects, homework, etc., are entered in gradebooks throughout a term. For more on information on entering assignment grades, see Working with Gradebook.

  • Grade report grades are entered during grading periods called Marking Periods that are set up by the Grading Manager at your school. Marking periods are typically at the end of a term, but may also be scheduled throughout a term to report on student progress. Faculty enter grade report grades, comments, and skill grades in Grading, which is accessible from a class page or from My Day.
