Degrees

Enable degree managers

In order to access these features, a school administrator will need to assign the Degree Manager role to an employee.

Select Core.
Select Security.
Select Roles.
Find the Degree Manager (Application type) role in the list.
Select the ellipsis (...) at the start of the row.
Select Manage role.
Select Members and then Add. Any employees you add to the Degree Manager role will have access to Diploma and Area of Study features in Academics.

Create degree

Under the persona menu, select Academics.
Choose Grades, then Grading setup.
Select Degree.
Select the plus sign (+) to add a new Degree.
Enter in the following information:
- Name: Either choose from the existing names or select + Add new to create a new one.
- Description(optional)
- Degree type: You can select graduate or undergraduate.
- Valid from: This date reflects when the degree will start being valid.
- Valid to: This date reflects when the degree will stop being valid.
- CIP code : Use this optional field for more flexibility when you configure programs.

- Credits needed: The total number of credits needed to complete the degree.
- Institution credits: Credits that need to be taken at the school. These credits cannot be earned at other schools.
- Award level: Indicates the category of award conferred by your education institution as official recognition for the successful completion of a program of study. For details, review the Common Education Data Standards website.
Select Save.

Edit degree

Under the persona menu, select Academics.
Choose Grades, then Grading setup.
Select Degree.
Use the context menu for the degree to choose Edit.
Make changes as needed.
Select Save.

Delete degree

Under the persona menu, select Academics.
Choose Grades, then Grading setup.
Select Degree.
Use the context menu for the degree to choose Delete.
Select Yes to confirm.

Copy degree

From the persona menu, select Academics.
Select Grades, then Grading setup.
Select Degree.
Use the context menu for the degree to choose Copy.
Enter the following information:
- Name: This is a required field. You can add new Names with the following steps:
  - Select + Add new.
  - Enter a Name and Abbreviation. These are required fields.
  - Select Save.
- Description(optional)
- Degree type: You can select graduate or undergraduate.
- Valid from: This date reflects when the degree will start being valid.
- Valid to: This date reflects when the degree will stop being valid.
- CIP code : Use this optional field for more flexibility when you configure programs.

Select Save when finished.

Add requirements to a degree

Degreemanagers can use Requirements to associate courses with a Degree. These Requirements will need to be completed in order for a student to complete the Degree.

Select the name of the Degree in order to add or edit Requirements for that specific Degree. To learn more, see the help topic Requirements.

Associate a degree with a student

You can associate a degree with a student through the Requirements section of their academic profile. To learn more about adding degrees to students, see the help topic Degree Audit.

Associate a degree with students in bulk

Degree managers can associate a degree with multiple students in bulk. You can use this feature to start a group of students using graduation requirements.

Go to Academics.
Select Grades, then Grades management. The Overview tab will open by default.
Select + Add degree to a group. This will open a new set of menu options.
Choose which type of category you will use to select students:

List: Select an existing Student List.

Tip: To create or edit Student Lists, go to Grades in the main menu and select Manage lists. For more information about this process, see the help topic Manage Lists.

Classification: Select one of the classifications at your school.
Select Next.
Use the search bar to select a Degree to associate with the students.
Select Next.
The final step is a verification check. Once you have confirmed that the selected students and the name of the degree are accurate, select Finish. A notification will appear at the bottom right of your browser window indicating that the process has begun.

When the process is complete, the degree you selected will be applied to students in the classification or list you selected. The students can now apply credits toward completion of the degree.

If a student in the affected group was already working toward a degree, they will now have two degrees associated with their profile. Credits will be processed toward degrees according to their process order.

Compare requirements settings

You can customize the message that displays to students and faculty when they use the Compare Requirements feature on a student profile.

Under the persona menu, select Academics.
Select Grades, then Grading setup.
Select Degree.
Select Compare requirements settings.
Enter the text you would like to display at the top of the Compare Requirements modal. For example:

"This comparison tool will not affect your existing selections. Please contact the registrar to make changes."
Select Save.
