View-as Settings

Schools decide how much of another user's view their staff can see. Some data belongs in a student's or parent's view, and some should stay out of reach even when a user has permission to "view as."

Platform managers set those limits with View-as settings. The limits apply when staff view as a student or a parent.

Restrict the kinds of data your school keeps out of a student's view, such as:

  • Messages

  • Official notes

  • Learning profiles

  • Report cards and transcripts

  • Files and forms

  • Attendance

  • Conduct

  • Course requests

Data that's foundational to the student view stays available, such as the courses a student is enrolled in and their schedule.

To open these settings, your role needs the View-as settings task (Task ID 55663) under the People domain. The task is on the platform manager role and is enabled by default. For clones of the platform manager role, it's inactive by default. See security permissions for "view as".
