Install LockDown Browser Chrome extension for Chromebooks

Google Administrators can choose between automatically installing the LockDown Browser Chrome extension on all school-managed Chromebooks or having students install the extension manually themselves.

Automatically install the LockDown Browser Chrome extension

  1. Sign into the Google management interface with your admin account.

  2. Select Devices, Chrome, Apps & extensions, then Users & browsers.

  3. Select the organization where you wish to install the Chrome extension.

  4. Select the yellow "+" icon, then Add Chrome app or extension by ID.

  5. Enter this ID: iahealiibbpiajggcmiheifloklgjiln

  6. Select Save.

  7. Set the Installation Type to Force Install.

  8. Select Save.

The LockDown Browser Chrome extension will now be pushed out to all the school-managed Chromebook devices.

Students manually install the LockDown Browser Chrome extension

  1. Sign into the Google management interface with your admin account.

  2. Select Devices, Chrome, Apps & extensions, then Users & browsers.

  3. Select Additional Settings.

  4. Under Allow/block mode, select Edit and set the Chrome Web Store option to Block all apps, admin managed allowlist.

  5. In Devices, Chrome, Apps & extensions, Users & browsers, select the organization unit where you wish to install the Chrome extension.

  6. Select the yellow "+" icon and select Add Chrome app or extension by ID.

  7. Enter this ID: iahealiibbpiajggcmiheifloklgjiln

  8. Select Save.

  9. Select Allow Install to add LockDown Browser to the allowlist.

The LockDown Browser Chrome extension is now available for students to manually install on their school-managed Chromebooks.
