Question Generator

Powered by Blackbaud AI, the Question Generator is intended to assist teachers in building questions for Assessments. It may generate questions with incorrect information or information that teachers do not deem suitable for their class or the chosen topic. As such, the generator does not serve as a replacement for the question building process and teachers should review all questions for accuracy and appropriateness.

Note: The Question Generator does not crawl your existing questions for data, nor does it use the data you enter in the tool to train the AI.

Teachers have full control over which generated questions are added to their Question banks and Assessments, as well as the ability to edit generated questions as needed.

Tips for generating questions:

  • Topics may be broad, but more specific topics tend to generate more usable questions.

  • Learning levels are based on Bloom's Taxonomy and increase in complexity and difficulty as you go down the list of available options. In theory:

    • Remembering, Understanding, and Applying are better suited to Multiple Choice, Fill in the Blank, and True/False questions.

    • Analyzing, Evaluating, and Creating tend to be a better fit for Essay questions.

  • The difficulty of the generated questions is determined by a combination of the Grade level, Learning level, and Question difficulty selected.

  • Platform Managers can view usage information and enable access to the Question Generator by school level in Core, Security, Blackbaud AI. For more information, see Blackbaud AI.
