Faculty Preferences
In Preferences,
Access your Preferences

In Faculty, select My Day, then Assignment Center.

In list view, select More, then Preferences. In calendar view, select Preferences just above the calendar grid.

In Faculty, select Classes, then choose a class.

Select the Assignments tab.

Assignment creation
Select default settings for new assignments you create.

Add to gradebook default: Choose if Add to Gradebook is selected by default when you add an assignment, discussion, or assessment.

Add to cumulative grade default: Choose if Add to cumulative grade is selected by default when you add an assignment, discussion, or assessment.

Publish grade default: Choose if Publish grade is selected by default when you add an assignment, discussion, or assessment.

Add assignment defaults: Select sections of the Add assignment modal to collapse by default. You can still expand these sections to view them when adding assignments. For example, if you rarely or never create multiple instances of an assignment, select Assignment instances to minimize the Assignment instances section of the Add assignment form by default.
Note: The Add assignment defaults preference is only available if your administrator has not yet enabled the new Quick Assignment feature.

Add discussion defaults: Select Attachments & links if you want this section collapsed by default when you add discussion assignments.
The following preferences are only available after your administrator enables the new Quick Assignment feature and they only take affect when creating Quick Assignments.

Assignment notification: Choose if Send notification is selected by default when adding an assignment.
Note: This notification is only sent to users subscribed to the Assignment added notification.

File submission: Select the default Submission method when adding an assignment:
-
No assignment submission: Students do not turn in an online or paper submission.

In-system submission: Students upload a file submission for the assignment.

On-paper submission only: Students may only turn in a hard copy of the assignment.
Tip: If students can choose between submitting their assignment on paper or uploading an in-system file submission, choose In-system submission.

Evaluation method: Select the default Evaluation method when adding an assignment:

Total points

Mastery
-
Mastery and total points

Due date and times: Select the default Due date and Time to use when adding a new assignment.

Due date

Next meeting: the assignment is due the next time the class meets after the Assigned date and time.

Specific date: you will specify a date on the assignment.

Time

Start of class: Starting time of the next class meeting.

End of class: End time of the next class meeting.

Specific time: you will specify a time on the assignment.

Tip: In addition to these assignment creation defaults, you can set the Default max points for each assignment type. For more information, see Individual Gradebook Setup .
Assignment lists
Set your default list view settings for the Assignment Center and the Assignments tab on class pages.

Show assignments due: Select a default due date timeframe filter to apply in your Assignment Center list view.

Publish status: Select Not published to display only unpublished assignments by default. Select Published to display only published assignments by default. Or, to display all assignments by default, regardless of their publish status, leave this option blank.

Sort column: Choose the default field used to sort assignments.

Show assignments due: Select a default due date timeframe filter, such as This school year or In the future to apply in list view on class Assignments tabs.

Publish status: Select Not published or Published to filter assignments based on their publish status by default. To display all assignments by default, regardless of their publish status, leave this option blank.

Sort column: Choose the default field to sort assignments by.
Assignment imports
Manage which other

Control who can import your assignments: Select which other teachers, if any, can import your assignments to their own classes.

Do not allow others to import your assignments

Allow all teachers to import your assignments

Allow selected teachers to import your assignments: if selected, choose the teachers that may import your assignments from the list below.
Google Drive
If your school uses the Google Drive integration, you can manage your notifications preferences.

Notification preferences: Select if you want to receive a notification when a student shares a Google Drive file for an assignment.
Evaluation
Determine how the Incomplete and Missing indicators behave when committing grades.

Automated status changes: If you want the Incomplete or Missing indicators removed from a student's assignment when you commit their grade, enable the options to remove these indicators. If you do not select the options to remove these indicators, they will remain on the assignment until you remove them manually.
Note: These Evaluation preferences are user-based. For instance, if teachers co-teach a class, one teacher may elect to remove the Incomplete and Missing indicators upon saving a grade while the other teacher does not. The preference of the user committing the grade is respected.
