Grandparents

Platform managers can indicate that users have a grandparent relationship type to grant them grandparent security roles

Like the parent roles, users are automatically assigned to a corresponding grandparent role when they have a grandparent-grandchild relationship with a student.

As the grandchild moves into different roles (for example, from the student role into the alum role), the grandparent is automatically moved into the corresponding grandparent role (grandparent of candidate/past candidate/incoming student/student/past student/alum). 

To grant a user the grandparent role, create a grandparent-grandchild relationship in their contact card. 

Data managers can grants users the grandparent role in bulk using the data import. process.

Warning: If your school has old, manually created (cloned from Friend), roles for grandparents, we recommend a platform manager inactivates those older roles to eliminate confusion and hide them from view. Then update appropriate lists, Pushpage (Newsletter) distribution groups, and Community Group rosters to include only the new roles. Also ensure that the appropriate access has been set for grandparents in the following tasks: Directories, Profile Fields, Profile Publish Access, Profile Relationship Access, Password Parameters, LDAP Authentication, Sign In Messages, Profile Validation, Emergency Bulletin, and secure content.
