Monitor and Manage Students During Assessments
Use the Proctor tab when you need to actively proctor an assessment and respond quickly to student status changes.
From Proctor,

View student assessment status in real time.

See when a student begins, pauses, or submits an assessment.

Allow a student to continue or retake an assessment.

Extend an individual student’s due date without changing assessment settings.

See why a LockDown Browser session was paused (if applicable).
To access Proctor from the Assignment Center or class Assignments tab,
Review Proctor Assessment Statuses
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Not started | The student has not launched the assessment. |
| In progress |
The student has launched or resumed the assessment. Cleared when the student submits or closes the assessment. |
| Paused | The assessment is paused. |
| Submitted | The student submitted the assessment and is not marked Allow continue or Allow retake. |
| Allow continue | The student is allowed to continue the assessment. |
| Allow retake | The student is allowed to retake the assessment. |
| Extended | The student has an extended due date and has not submitted, continued, or retaken the assessment. |
If LockDown Browser is enabled for an assessment, an additional Reason column is displayed for Paused assessments. For more information see LockDown Browser for Faculty.
Allow Retake, Allow Continue, and Extend Assessments
Use the context menu
next to a student's name to allow them to retake, continue or to extend their assessment. Available options change based on the student’s status.
Note: If students can view correct answers upon submitting their assessment, they may have prior exposure to those answers when allowing them to continue or retake a submitted assessment.
If a student is resuming or retaking an assessment after the due date, first extend the assessment to a new due date before selecting Allow continue or Allow retake.
Allow a student to retake an assessment
Available only after a student submits their assessment.

From the Assignment Center or class Assignments tab, select the assessment name.

Select the Proctor tab.

Select the context menu next to the student's name, then Allow retake.
Allow a student to continue an assessment
Available if the student submitted their assessment or their assessment is in a paused state.

From the Assignment Center or class Assignments tab, select the assessment name.

Select the Proctor tab.

Select the context menu next to the student's name, then Allow Continue.
Extend a student’s due date
You can extend an assessment due date for an individual student.

From the Assignment Center or class Assignments tab, select the assessment name.

Select the Proctor tab.

Select the context menu next to the student's name, then Extend due date.

Choose the extended due date.
Note: Removing the extended due date restores the original due date.
