Gradebook Rollover

Gradebook and grading rollovers can be performed simultaneously in Grades management.

Use the rollover process to copy grading and gradebook settings from one school year to the next. Rollovers help ensure consistency across school years and reduce the need to recreate grading structures.

  • Each school level allows one grading rollover per group type per school year.

  • Each school level allows one gradebook rollover per school year for Academic groups.

  • Use the gear icon to view a different school year.

  • A green checkmark indicates rollover is complete for the group type and school level.

Gradebook rollover is only available for Academic groups. They include:

Important Rollover Order

If you plan to perform grading and gradebook rollovers separately, you must complete the gradebook rollover first. This ensures that marking period Marking periods are times during an academic year when grades are recorded. They are like time-sensitive buckets that teachers drop grades into. Marking periods are added to Grade Groups. formulas that rely on gradebook grades roll over correctly.

Before You Begin

Grading rollover cannot proceed if marking periods exist in the destination (Copy to) school year.

  • If no grades have been recorded, delete the manually added marking periods.

  • After deleting them, restart the rollover process.

Perform a rollover

  1. In Academics, select Grades, then Grades management.

  2. Under Rollover, select Get started.

  3. Select Copy previous.

  4. Under Copy from, select the Academic year you want to copy settings from.

  5. Under Copy to, select the Academic year, School level, and Group type you want to copy settings to.

  6. Select information to copy:

  7. Select Next.

  8. On the Gradebook marking period dates tab, edit dates as needed.

  9. Select Next.

  10. On the Grading marking period dates tab, edit dates as needed.

  11. Select Finish.

Once rollover is complete, you can edit gradebook and grading information in the new year as needed.
