Competency based student gradebook

If your school utilizes Competency Based Education (CBE), you can switch between displaying Total score and Skills using the Display dropdown at the top of the student gradebook. With Skills selected, the number of evaluated and mastered skills display above the Content-area skills and/or Transferable skills along with the Computation method. For more information on CBE, see Teacher's Guide to Competency Based Education and Competency Based Education.

Whereas Content-area skills are specific to a course or subject area, Transferable skills can span a student's academic performance at the school. When Transferable skills are selected in the student gradebook, the skill details displayed are for the current class only.

For each skill, the following details display:

  • The student's average skill score for the selected marking period. Only summative graded assignments (assignments not marked Formative) are included in the average.

  • Cumulative average: (Content-area skills only) The student's average skill score for the class duration across marking periods.
