Sort Order for Report Cards & Transcripts

Note: This help topic covers the sort order of items that display on report cards and transcripts generated by the Old Report Card Builder and Old Transcript Builder. For improved performance and a more intuitive design process, we recommend using the Report Card Builder and Transcript Builder.

Courses are sorted by:

  1. Transcript category Transcript Categories determine how courses are grouped together on a transcript. sort order (ascending)

  2. Course title (ascending)

  3. Teacher last name (ascending)

Grades are sorted by:

  1. Offering Type (ascending)

    Note: This refers to Academics, Athletics, etc...

  2. Begin term date

Comments are sorted by:

  1. If Group Grades and Comments is not checked on the report card, comments will appear below grades.

  2. Report card column sort order (ascending)

  3. Report card column label (ascending)

  4. Transcript category sort order (ascending)

  5. Course title (ascending)

  6. Teacher last name (ascending)

Courses are sorted by:

  1. Skill-based type sort order (ascending)

  2. Skills-based type description (ascending)

  3. Short description (ascending)

Grades are sorted by:

  1. Grade group Grade Groups are used to link courses with Marking Periods. sort order (ascending)

    Note: If one does not exist, grades will sort by offering id (ascending)

  2. Transcript category sort order (ascending)

  3. Offering id (ascending)

  4. Teacher name (ascending)

  5. Grade Category Grade Categories determine how Grade Translations appear on report cards. They are linked to courses through Marking Periods. (ascending)

  6. If course length is less than or equal to 1, grades will then sort by course title (ascending)

  7. Skills-Based type sort order (ascending)

  8. Skills-Based type description (ascending)

Note: If Display grades in grid is being used with one skills-based grading period A grading period is the link between the grades recorded in a course and the report card. There should be a unique grading period for each instance when report cards are issued., it will list grade types (such as Effort) as column headers instead of terms.

  1. Grade group sort order (ascending)

    Note: If one does not exist, grades will sort by offering id (ascending)

  2. Transcript category sort order (ascending)

  3. Offering id (ascending)

  4. Teacher name (ascending)

  5. Grade Category (ascending)

  6. If course length is less than or equal to 1, grades will then sort by course title (ascending)

  7. Skills-Based type sort order (ascending)

  8. Skills-Based type description (ascending)

traditional grades are sorted by:

  1. Offering Type (ascending)

  1. Enroll date or begin date of school year (ascending)

  2. School year

  3. School name of where the grades came from (ascending)
