Custom text and messages

You can customize various text and messages that appear throughout the application (including my notifications, sign in, profile validation, and directories).

Select Core.
Select Settings.
Select Custom text.
Select Custom text/messages.
Locate the row of the item you want to customize and select Edit (pencil icon).
Enter the message and format it as desired.
Select Save.

Login page, privacy policy sign in messages, and emergency bulletins

We recommend platform managers configure a custom message about privacy for users to access from the login page.

First, go to Core, Security, Authentication settings, Login page settings. Then enable the More information link and edit the label for the link. Save your changes.

Next, you’ll enter the custom message. Go to Core, Settings, Custom text, Custom text/messages.
Find the item called Login page information. Then edit the text to include any information required for compliance with privacy laws. Consider including a hyperlink to your school’s privacy policy. Save your changes.

You can also create messages that appear after a user signs in.

Typically you'll use these to announce important information or remind users to complete an action.

You'll control how long the message will appear and when it will expire. For example, you may want to remind users about an upcoming major event, give a weather alert, or remind them to review their emergency contact information.

You'll manage these "sign in messages" from a different task screen. See sign in messages for details.
Alternatively, consider using emergency bulletins for information that should appear as a banner message.

Validation messsages

Use the Custom Text/Messages menu to customize My Notifications, Sign In, and Profile Validation settings.

Access Denied Text
This message appears to authenticated users who attempt to view a page that they do not have access to.
Unsupported Browser Message
This message appears to users who visit the site using an unsupported browser.

Browse groups text

You can customiz the text and messages that appear to users when they search for community groups.

Select Core.
Select Settings.
Select Custom text.
Select Browse groups text.
Locate the row of the item you want to customize and select Edit (pencil icon).
Enter the message and format it as desired.
Select Save.
