Inbox Message Permissions

Using the Inbox feature, constituents can compose messages to communicate internally with other constituents. Depending on the Inbox settings, constituents may be able to send messages to individuals and/or to groups.

Permissions apply to constituents who have access to compose new messages (including bulk messages) in the Inbox:

Any constituent

  • Individuals who are enrolled in the same group as the constituent.

  • The leader(s) of the group in which the constituent is enrolled (the constituent can send messages to an individual leader or to "{groupname} - Leaders").

Students

  • Their parents.

  • All members of a group in which the student is enrolled (using "{groupname} - Members").

Employees

  • Other users with an employee role.

  • Users with a Parent role other than Parent of Past Student.

  • All members of a group in which the employee is enrolled (using "{groupname} - Members").

Candidates

  • Their parents.

  • The admissions staff member who is assigned to them.

Parents of candidates

  • The admissions staff member who is assigned to their child.

Group leaders

Group leaders include activity leaders, advisors, coaches, community group leaders, dorm parents, and faculty. For information, see Groups.

  • Members in their group (leaders can send messages to an individual member or to "{groupname} - Members").

  • Parents of members in their group (leaders can send messages to an individual parent or to "{groupname} - Parents of Members").

  • Other leaders of the group (leaders can send messages to an individual leader or to "{groupname} - Leaders").

Group managers

Group managers include academic group managers and Athletic Group Managers.

  • Other users who have the same group manager role.

  • The leaders of the groups they manage (managers can send messages to an individual leader or to "{groupname} - Leaders").

  • All members of a group in which the manager is enrolled (using "{groupname} - Members").

Application managers

Application managers include platform managers and page managers.

  • Other users who have the same application manager role.

  • All members of a group in which the manager is enrolled (using "{groupname} - Members").

Admissions managers

  • Candidates.

  • Parents of candidates.

Tip: If your school uses another email provider (such as Google Gmail) with Active Directory, you'll set up an inbox for each email domain when you manage Domain settings.
