Inbox Messages
The Messages feature enables constituents to contact each other. Constituents can message others with whom they have a connection — i.e. shared classes or community groups. Messaging can be enabled or disabled for the entire school, but cannot be disabled for an individual role.
Through Messages, constituents can also message groups or multiple people and groups at once. All active messages appear here with a time stamp from when the most recent message was received. A View By filter is available to sort the messages between active and archived. Each active message has an Archive button, which will instantly affect the message once the button is pressed. Additionally, the date field can display messages between a particular date range. If you know exactly what you’re looking for, a search bar is also available.
When using the search, results are returned based on subject, recipients, and body.
Select Compose Message to get started. The To field is where you can add people or groups to receive the message. Typing out the individual or group’s name will dynamically call up a list of possible matches, updating with each letter added to best match what you’re entering. In addition, select Enable Reply to All for recipients to have the option to respond to all of the people on the message. They’ll see a Reply and a Reply to All button when this option is enabled. If this option is not enabled during this message creation process, only the Reply option appears. As expected, Reply sends a response to the last person who sent a message, while Reply to All will send the response to everyone included on the current message.
Add a subject line if desired, and then compose the message below with style and formatting options available through the editor. Options include changing the font size, text color, bold, italicize, print, adding links, and much, much more.
Select a message from the list view to open it. The complete message history can be viewed and displayed similarly to a chat log. The most recent message is displayed at the top with the oldest at the bottom. In addition, a time stamp is added to each message to help keep track of the conversation history.
At the top of this message log displays the With field. This lets you know who is currently involved in these messages and will be receiving any additional correspondence.
A WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor is at the bottom of the message log with a full suite of text editing tools. These include standard options like bold, cut, copy, italicize, underline, and more. In addition, you can change the font size and color as needed. Any links or videos added to the message are automatically formatted using the tinyMCE editor.
Links selected from an inbox message open in a new tab.
Messages must be less than 50,000 characters.
If your school uses another email provider (such as Google Gmail) with Active Directory, you'll set up an inbox for each email domain when you manage Domain settings.
