Core Notifications
Throughout Blackbaud's education capabilities, many processes automatically generate corresponding notifications. Platform managers and communication managers can configure options which affect all notifications.
A communications manager can view all previously sent notifications.

Since there are many processes that generate notifications, you may want to filter the possible types of notifications.
Select a Category, Type, and Status. Then select View to apply the filters and show the results.
-
Notifications that users may subscribe to appear in a grid, along with the action that must occur to generate the notification, information about how the message is sent, and information about who receives it and how.
-
On a row, select Subscriptions to view details about who receives the notifications and how the solution contacts them.
-
On a row, select Edit to change how the message is sent and to change the content of the message. Use "placeholders" to customize the text with personalized data for each recipient. To apply your changes, Save.
The email and text notifications that are sent to subscribers can be customized for your school. However, the messages should be generic because they will be used for all notifications. For example, the same email is used to send all announcement notifications, regardless of what the announcement is. Placeholders are used in the email to display the announcement-specific content.

Use the following options to update the notification:
-
Notification properties
-
Name - Use this field to change the name of the notification, e.g. Announcement Posted.
-
Active - Use this option to activate/deactivate the notification. Inactive notifications will not appear on the My Notifications Master Page and users will not be able to subscribe to them.
-
-
Email notification
-
Reply Email - This is the email address that users can respond to.
-
From name - Enter a name that will appear in the "from" field. Most schools enter their school name.
-
Subject - Enter a subject for the notification. The subject will be used for all notifications so it should be generic. Placeholders can also be part of the subject.
-
Body - This is where the main message of the email should go. Use the placeholders to automatically insert notification-specific content into the email.
As a best practice for security purposes, we recommend schools avoid using any placeholders or fields that contain user supplied data in email notifications.
-
-
Text Notification
-
Body - Create a message that is less than 160 characters. Use the placeholders to automatically insert notification-specific content into the text message.
-
-
Select Roles With Access - For academic groups only, use this task to select which roles will have access to subscribe to assignment notifications from the My Notifications master page.
-
Each notification has its own unique set of placeholders. Edit the notification to view the available placeholders.
