Back to School - Bulletin Boards and Topics
Bulletin boards and Topics are great ways for teachers to organize and share classroom information and resources with students
Note: You can only access Classes after your administrator has granted access.
Tip: Select Preview page when editing a Bulletin board or Preview Topic when editing a Topic to view the content as it displays for students.

Your Bulletin Boards should give students and parents an overview of what to expect in your classroom. It is the first page students see when they access your class and ideal for posting the following:
-
Welcome message
-
Class expectations and objectives
-
Classroom policies and procedures
-
Syllabus
-
Grading rubrics
-
Quick links to resources, such as How to build a bibliography, How to use the scientific method, etc.
-
Classroom specific content, such as class photos and videos
-
Parent information

You can create Topics to organize and highlight different learning units or areas of focus, including:
-
Units of study
-
Curriculum
-
Assignments
-
Classroom activity content, such as field trips and debates
Each Topic is built separately and you select the information you want to include.

Bulletin Boards are designed for static content related to your class and Topics are better suited for organizing different units and areas of study. For example, the Bulletin Board for a Biology class may include the syllabus, grading rubrics, and laboratory policies. The class may include separate Topics for Mammals, Amphibians, and Birds.
While both Bulletin boards and Topics provide a place for you to share content with your class, there are some key differences in how they function and the available features:
-
Assignments and Learning Tools can only be used with Topics.
-
Only Topics allow you to use content types multiple times. For example, if you need to include two separate videos sections in a Topic, you can drag the Video content type into your Topic twice and add different videos in each instance.
-
You can import Topics from other classes and school years, as well as import topics other teachers have shared in the Topic Bank. For Bulletin Boards, you can import most content from your own classes in the current and previous school years.
