Category Definitions
Under Category definitions, you can view and edit a list of categories and their corresponding code ranges. Category definitions define the ranges of account codes you can use for different account code categories. You must define code ranges for the following required categories: asset, liability, fund balance, revenue, and expense. Optional categories, such as gift and transfer, are not required.

To edit category code ranges, under Category definitions, select Edit. Update the beginning and ending numbers for the code ranges as necessary (including any optional categories you select), and select Save.
Note: Code ranges can be edited at any time, as long as the ranges do not overlap.
Tip: Category ranges must be sequential. If you skip an optional category, we recommend you skip the corresponding code range in case you use that category in the future.
