Import Mapping Assistant

When you set up an import, matching source fields to the correct Financial Edge NXT fields can take time, especially when column names or file structures differ. For setup instructions, see Add an Import.

Import Mapping Assistant uses Blackbaud AI to analyze your import file and suggest field mappings during the import workflow. Suggestions are generated when you add a new parameter and import. Review, accept, or adjust the suggestions before you complete the import.

When you update a mapping, the assistant updates only unmapped fields, so existing mappings remain unchanged. To generate mappings for a file that you upload to an existing parameter, clear the existing mapping first.

Note: Over time, Import Mapping Assistant learns from prior imports to improve future mapping suggestions. Review each suggestion before you complete an import.

Tips for Working with Import Mapping Assistant

• Use clear, consistent column headers in your source file so suggestions align with the correct fields.

• Review each suggested mapping before you finish the import, especially for dates, amounts, and IDs.

• Keep confirmed mappings in place for recurring imports to reduce setup time and maintain consistency.

• Clear existing mappings when you upload a file with a different structure so the assistant can generate fresh suggestions.

• Run a small test import first to confirm mapping accuracy before you process a larger data file.
