Overview of Infinity Functional Areas
Features within an Infinity application are grouped into sections called functional areas. Blackbaud CRM is an Infinity application that contains functional areas such as Constituents, Revenue, Events, Prospects, Volunteers, Mailings, etc.
When Blackbaud CRM is first opened, the functional areas are displayed at the top of the shell. On the Shell Design page within the Administration functional area, you can manage these functional areas.

On the Shell Design page's Tasks tab, you can associate tasks with functional areas. Tasks allow you to display search forms, open pages, or open other data forms. The Tasks tab displays all existing tasks in the program along with Add, Edit, Delete, and View XML options. You can also assign permissions and test tasks. When you create a task, you can assign it to a functional area so that users can access it through the functional area.
For example, the Add a pledge task is assigned to the Revenue functional area on the Add a pledge properties screen accessed from the Tasks tab. Therefore, the Add a pledge task resides in the Revenue functional area in the program.
