To define a folder navigation menu

  1. Select the folder in Website Explorer.

  2. Click the Navigation button (footprints) on the Website Explorer toolbar. Or right-click the folder in the right pane and select Navigation from the pop up context menu. The Edit Navigation Menu dialog displays.

  3. Enter a menu title and description.

You are now ready to add the navigation links you want to display for this folder. Make sure you cascade them in the order and nesting level (if any) that you want them to display. (How CMS Services has configured your site determines how deeply you can nest levels in a navigation menu. An error will display if you try to add a level beyond the maximum.)

  1. To add an internal link to the navigation menu:
    1. If desired, select another folder (including the site's root folder) from the drop-down menu.

    2. Select a folder or individual item on the left.

    3. Click the blue plus sign. Your selection is added to Selected Menu Items on the right.

  2. To add an external link to the navigation menu:
    1. Click the Add External Link button.

    2. Enter the Title to display to site visitors in the actual navigation menu, such as Take Action.

    3. Enter the full target URL, such as http://action.yourorg.org/.

    4. Click OK. The external link with its public Title is added to Selected Menu Items.

  3. To add a label (without a link) to the navigation menu, click Add Label.

  4. Click Search using parameters such as keyword, publication date, or selected folders only. A minimized version of the Website Explorer Advanced Search dialog displays.

  5. When you have finished configuring the navigation menu, click OK.
