Designated Giving

You can offer donors the option to designate the beneficiary of their gift instead of having all funds go directly to a single default mission behind the form on which they are making their donation. This can be useful if multiple options may appeal to different donors using a donation form.

A designee is the entity that receives the funds raised, such as a department, person, or secondary mission. You can create Designation Types to organize designees in various groupings on the selection drop-down or you can create new Designation Types directly as you create each designee.

If you have the appropriate permissions, you can upload a file with the designation types you plan to use and the designees assigned to them.

You can create a Designated Giving program containing designees and Designation Types that will be available to all donation forms within a specific donation campaign if you insert either the Designated Giving data element or the Flexible Designated Giving Level data element as the Giving Pattern on the form. Using the Flexible Designated Giving Level enables you to offer recurring (or sustaining) gifts with multiple payments from donors as well as one-time gift payments.

Note: You can also assign a single designee directly to a donation form using the Designee drop-down list on the form, but then you cannot insert the Flexible Designated Giving Level data element as the Giving Pattern on the form.

By default, you can adjust the sequence in which the Designation Types are displayed to donors from the default creation order by entering the numbers in the Order field in the list.
