Payment Processing - Merchant Accounts and Payment Gateways
Money that you collect online or offline will process through a merchant account that your organization creates.
Part of your merchant account configuration involves setting up a payment gateway between the bank or financial institution of the donor and your merchant account. A payment gateway uses a payment processor to handle communications and transfer funds from your donor's financial institution to your merchant account. This means that funds collected by your organization go directly through your merchant account into your bank and are not held by a third party.
In most cases, Blackbaud Services must create a payment gateway for you, and then you can create the merchant account and configure your forms to accept the payments offered by the payment gateway.
Note: Administrators with certain permissions can configure Luminate Online for your Blackbaud Merchant Services (BBMS) account. See Payment Capabilities with Blackbaud Merchant Services.
