Note: If you currently use Luminate Online social features, you are likely using Gigya as the social account authentication tool. We are now offering a new social account integration with Janrain. The required date for conversion from Gigya to Janrain is by December 31, 2015.
More social networks: Now get many favorites like Pinterest®, Google+®, and Reddit®. New networks that become available can integrate without custom work or product upgrades
Simpler sharing process for constituents: Janrain offers the social networks’ native, mobile-responsive widgets with no “app” to install or series of required approval steps
Complete the Set up Social Login (Open Authentication) steps where you will:
Create a Janrain account from within Luminate Online (choose Create a New Account)
Log into Janrain and configure providers such as Facebook
Upgrade Participant Center 2 to version 15.9 or later
On a first-time page visit or share after switching to Janrain, constituents will need to log in to their social account again. After entering their social account credentials, an account validation screen appears for the first visit only. Constituents must complete all required fields. This step ensures that any organization's required field is captured since many social accounts do not store this type of information.
Luminate Online auto-populates these fields with any information that it can pull from an existing account. However, Twitter and LinkedIn do not permit this auto-population.
After completing the validation page once, the page no longer appears to constituents.
If you customized Gigya, such as changing the image of the social sharing icons, you can work with your Professional Services contacts about transitioning your updates. Janrain offers some styling customizations as well.
Be aware of the following features:
You can create your Janrain account from within Luminate Online. You do not need to create your Janrain account in advance
In Participant Center 2, sharing icons for Facebook and Twitter display without extra steps. Participant Center 2 must be upgraded to the latest version
Tell-a-Friend is not yet enabled for use in Participant Center 2
Yes, after setting up Janrain with Luminate Online, Janrain widgets will replace all Gigya widgets for social logins or social sharing. Social sharing widgets will need further configuration on the Luminate Online side, however, to include certain providers that were not available with Gigya. Also, non-native sharing will require a social authentication for users.
You need to Set up Social Login (Open Authentication) and Set Up Social Sharing
Social media analytics will be available in the Janrain Dashboard. However, you can also Enable Luminate CMS to log social share interactions to capture social shares from Luminate CMS-hosted sites into a Luminate Online constituent's profile as an interaction.
The Janrain sharing component has larger provider icons by default than the Gigya provider icons. If needed, this can easily be changed with CSS. Janrain also offers some widget style customization as described here.
Luminate Online's implementation with Janrain offers the ability to show all configured sharing providers in the widget, so the widget's size is dynamic. Size should be considered when designing a page. Some wrappers may need to be adjusted if additional providers are added.
You should check all existing social login authentications and sharing widgets to see how they appear and whether styling changes should be made. Test logging in and out with social login and sharing with social share. Run reports in Luminate Online or check the Janrain dashboard to verify that the expected results display.
Yes. To leverage Janrain social integration, make a copy of your participant center, then upgrade the copy participant center to the latest version. Reestablish any customizations, and test the social links before switching your live Participant Center 2 to the upgraded version.
In Janrain, one "Engage app" is set up to work with one Luminate Online site. Therefore, it is not currently possible to map unique Engage apps in Janrain to specific centers in Luminate Online. Only one Engage app can be used for a site.
