To customize the Tell-A-Friend message and link

  1. From an open Article Editor page, click the Tell-A-Friend tab. The Tell-A-Friend page displays for that story.

    Note: If you do not have a story open, click the Content menu on the navigation bar and select StoryBuilder. In the Article List, click the Headline of the appropriate story and then click the Tell-A-Friend tab.

  2. In the Subject field, enter the subject line to display to recipients of this Tell-A-Friend message, such as "You Need to Read This".

  3. Select a Subject editing option:

    • Allow the user to edit the message subject (default) - Enable message senders to add or delete words in your customized subject line.

    • Make subject read-only - Force message senders to use the customized subject line that you entered.

  4. In the Body field, enter the text of the message to display to recipients of the Tell-A-Friend message sent to them.

  5. Select a Body editing option:

    • Allow the user to edit the text of the message (default) - Enable message senders to add or delete information from the message body content.

    • Make message text read-only - Force message senders to use the customized message that you entered.

    • Make message text read-only but allow user to add to it - Enable message senders to add more information to your customized body text.

  1. In the Web Page Link area, select from the Style drop-down list the style of the link that senders will click to open the Tell-A-Friend message:

    • Tell-A-Friend Image (default) - Use the default image.

    • Text - If you select this option, enter the Link Text phrase (such as Tell Someone About This Article). Note that using a text link may affect the page wrapper.

  2. Click the Save button. A confirmation message displays at the top of the page, along with a Use Default Content button that enables you to remove your customized subject, body, and link style and revert to the default Tell-A-Friend form.

  3. To preview the link and message:
    1. Click the StoryBuilder List tab. The system displays the StoryBuilder List page.

    2. Locate the story by its Headline and click the View icon from its Actions column. The story displays in a new browser window.

    3. Click the Tell-A-Friend link. The Tell-A-Friend form page displays.

    4. When you are finished, close the message form page.
