Understand the Document Library
Supported file types
You can upload popular file types, such as PDF and HTML files, as well as audio and video files, including MP3 and QuickTime Video files.
Tip: Although the Document Library may support a specific file type, some files may require specific software to open and run them. For example, you can upload and link to a Windows Media file (.wmf), but site users who click the file link must have the Microsoft Windows Media Player to open and view the file content.
For a full list of supported types, see To upload a file to the Document Library.
Supported file size
The maximum file size for upload is 10 MB.
If you intend to upload files over 2 MB in size, consider upload restrictions that your internet browser may have.
Tip: You may want to avoid using large files because your site visitors and users may not be able to download or open the linked files in a reasonable amount of time, especially site visitors and users with slower internet connections.
Access a document's direct URL link
To copy the direct URL to a document, go to Document Library, locate your document in the list, and click Copy Document URL. Paste the copied URL to another application to view the full URL.
Revised document support
When the content of an uploaded file changes, you can upload the revised file as a new version of the document and publish your new version without disturbing any existing page links that were made to the original file.
