Get Started with Payment Processing
To process payments through Luminate Online, you must have:
A Blackbaud Payment Service (BBPS) account to securely collect and store payment info.
A payment gateway and processor — such as Blackbaud Merchant Services (BBMS) — to send and receive the information.
An account to collect and deposit the funds into your bank.
Tip: To access features such as Blackbaud Checkout, digital wallets, donor cover, and Credit Card Updater, process payments through Blackbaud Merchant Services. For more information about Blackbaud Merchant Services, visit Blackbaud’s website.
Note: Access to Setup, Payment Capabilities is available to administrators who use BBMS and have the Merchant Account Self Provisioning permission. If you don't see this option and feel you should, contact Blackbaud Support.
Import Accounts
After you set up required payment services, an admin with the Merchant Account Self Provisioning permission must import them in Luminate Online.
From Setup, Payment Capabilities, select Payment Services.
Select Import Blackbaud Payment Services.
Enter your Blackbaud Payment Services credentials.
Select Import.
Note: Payment Services imports active BBMS accounts that are associated with the BBPS account and use your supported currency. Changes made to BBMS accounts outside of Luminate Online must be re-imported into Luminate Online.
Configure payment settings
After you import the Blackbaud Payment Service account, you must set up your Luminate Online merchant accounts. This enables your organization to accept transactions online and receive disbursements from Blackbaud Merchant Services.
Under Setup, Payment Capabilities, Merchant Accounts, select Create Account.
Enter account details, which include info about your security category, tax ID, and the desired gateways and accounts. Imported Blackbaud Merchant Services accounts are available for selection.
Select Next.
For Merchant Detail, select Supported Credit Cards. Imported Blackbaud Merchant Servicespayment methods will be selected.
Select whether this merchant account can process Recurring Transactions.
Select Finish.

Move sustaining gifts
To prevent payments from failing, move any sustaining gifts to the new merchant account. See move sustaining gifts.
(Optional) Set up Blackbaud Checkout
