To run Spam Check report

Running the Spam Check Report is a process that is run on an email message in Email Campaigns, Quick Email, and Coaching Email in TeamRaiser. Your message will be evaluated for its potential to be marked as spam using SpamAssasin. Spam is also called "junk mail” and it is considered unwanted email that can be blocked from a recipient's inbox by an email provider.

The Score

Running the Spam Check on your message will display a score based on specific SpamAssasin rules. Suggested changes will display for lowering the score based on a rule. Not all of the rules will have explanations, but usually there's enough information to help you lower the score.

The score determines how likely it is that popular email service providers, such as Microsoft Exchange, Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, and AOL, will mark the message as spam. Scores higher than 5.0 are considered spam by SpamAssassin, however it’s preferable to have a score below 1.0. Don’t spend a lot of effort trying to get the score to 0, instead make updates based on the suggestions and try to get your score below 1.0, if possible. Remember, these are indicators that your message might be considered spam.

The Procedure

You can run the Spam Check report yourself as part of the review and testing procedures while the message is in the draft status. However, it will run automatically when you approve the message and the spam rating (score) will display. The advantage of running the report yourself is that you're immediately offered suggestions for any issues in the message that you may be able to correct right away. To run Span Check, the message must be in the draft status.
