Standard Donation Level Element
As one of the giving pattern data elements, you can use the Standard Donation Level data element to configure giving levels for gifts with a one-time payment only as well as with repeating payment patterns where the payment is set to a fixed payment that occurs at a specified interval (such as monthly for 12 months). You can also set up an optional repeating pattern where the initial gift payment occurs when the gift is selected but the donor can also select to repeat the same gift on an ongoing basis (such as every month).
Before you configure the giving pattern options in this data element, make sure that donation gift levels have been set up.
You can modify the:
Enter a Gift Amount instruction label that displays next to the donation gift levels that donors select on donation forms in the Standard layout and above the levels in the Responsive layout.
Label default text that displays to the left of the monetary amount of the level, which was entered when the levels were configured.
Presentation of the gift levels by hiding the monetary amount that displays to the right of the option button for the level and display only the name of the level. For example, you can display the monetary amount in the Ask Message that displays in the section to the right of the label and explain the benefit of this level to the donor.
Note: These labels are in addition to the optional Ask Message that can be displayed to the far right of each donation gift level.
You most likely will want to set the order in which the donation gift levels display. Typically, the lowest amount is displayed first with the increasing amounts following and the blank Donor Entered Amount field should display last.
You can display the donation gift levels with one selected as the default option.
If the Form Layout is set to Standard, you can arrange the donation gift levels in up to 5 columns instead of displaying a single vertical list (which is the only display in donation forms with Responsive layouts).
You can configure your donation gift levels to offer donors the option to repeat their selected gift payment on a configured recurring pattern every month, quarter, or year on an ongoing basis with no end date or for a specific number of months, quarters, or years.
You can configure all levels at one time with the Optional Repeat step or each level separately (or just specific levels, in the Level Setup Table.
You can hide the recurring duration information in the Transaction Summary presented to the donor after the donation transaction has been processed.
You can add special messaging or an image to add information about the donation gift levels or a specific gift level in a block to the right (for donation forms in the Standard layout) or above (for donation forms in the Responsive layout) the levels. For example, you can add a statement like "Your generous gift will have a significant impact on our research efforts" that displays as a General Ask Message for any donation made.
Or, you can add a statement beside each level to explain its significance.
You can modify the default error messages that display when a donor submits the donation form without selecting a gift amount, selecting the user-entered amount but not entering a monetary amount in the field, or entering characters in the user-entered amount field that are not valid for monetary amounts.
