Configure a Merchant Account to Accept ACH or Credit Card Payments through IATS
ACH transactions transfer funds directly from the bank account of a donor instead of going through a credit card financial institution. After entering an agreement with IATS, you can configure a merchant account to accept payments through IATS ACH (account clearing house) or a credit card payment processing gateway.
What is ACH?
Automated Clearing House (ACH) automates the transfer of money from one bank account to another. ACH is also called direct debit.
ACH transactions transfer funds directly from the bank account of a donor instead of going through a credit card financial institution. ACH transactions often cost less per transaction than credit card transactions.
Recurring donors who pay with ACH tend to have higher lifetime value than those who pay with credit card. Additionally, bank account numbers change much less frequently than credit card numbers.
Tip: Donors with ACH recurring gifts can manage their gifts through the Gift Donor Self-Service Center , where they can skip or change payment amounts.
