To edit the Designated Giving Donation Level data element

  1. To locate the appropriate data element:

    1. From the top of an Administrator page, click Fundraising > Donation Management.

    2. On the Campaign List page, click Manage from the Actions column of the appropriate campaign.

    3. On the Donation Form List page, click Edit from the Actions column of the appropriate donation form.

    4. From the options along the left, click Design Donor Screens.

    5. In the list of Donor Screens, click Edit from the Actions of the donation form.

  2. In the Form Designer right pane, click the Designated Giving Donation Level data element and click the Save Order and Edit Selected.

  3. In the lower portion of the Form Designer, click the Edit Data Element tab.

  4. To make this field visible on the donation form, click the Yes check box and enter the text to display next to the field.

    Note: Since this field cannot be hidden on the Transaction Summary page, you may want to configure the data element with the field visible, test it, and then return and hide it if needed.

  5. Modify the Amount Label that displays above the field donors use to enter the amount for each designee.

  6. To select the specific designees instead of using the Master List:

    1. Click the Yes, I would like to Change the list of designees presented to the donor check box.

    2. Click the Change List of Designees link.

    3. Click the + (plus sign) beside the Name of any Designation Type folders.

    4. Click the check box next to each designee to include on the form.

    5. Click Next.

    6. Enter numbers in the Order column to set the presentation order on the form.

    7. Click Finish to save your changes and return to the editing page.

      Note: Changes to the master list (the addition of new designees) will have to be explicitly added to any list created in this sub-flow by repeating these same steps.

  7. For Designation Options:

    Note: You can offer up to 10 options and each option can be presented as a single drop-down list, a double drop-down list, a fixed designation program, or a write-in designation.

    1. Click Add a New Designation Option.

    2. For Display Style, click:

      • Single Drop-Down List to let the donor make a selection from a single list of designees (grouped by Designee Type)

      • Dual Drop-Down List to let the donor select a Designee Type (for example, Academic) and then select a Specific Designee of that Type from a separate drop-down list of designees

      • Fixed Designation Choice to display only a specific to designee and enter an optional Minimum gift amount for this designee

      • Write-in Designation to display a field for the donor to provide a name and contact information for a designee and:

        1. For Field Label for the Write-in Checkbox, enter the text for this label.

        2. For Field Label for the Agency Name, enter the text for this label (for example, "Program Name or Department Name).

        3. For Contact Information field label, enter text to help identify the field that the donor will use to enter contact information for their write-in department or program.

        4. For Amount Label, enter text that identifies the field where the donor indicates the amount they would like to contribute to this designee.

        5. For Donor Hint, enter text to display when the donor clicks or tabs into the Contact Information field.

  8. If your site is configured to offer Recurring Gifts, to give donors the Option to Repeat their gifts to this form on a regular basis:

    1. Click the check box.

    2. Select the Fixed Frequency for the recurring option (for example, "monthly").

    3. Select the Duration for which payments will be collected if the donor chooses the recurring option (for example, 5 payments).

    4. Enter a Label for the field where the donor selects the repeating option (for example, Would you like to repeat this gift monthly?)

    5. Enter the Text for the Check box that the donor selects to choose this option (for example, Yes, automatically repeat this gift every month.)

    6. Enter Donor Hint text to display when the donor clicks or tabs into this field.

  9. To offer donors the ability to Calculate a Total for their donation:

    1. Click the check box.

    2. Enter a Field Label that will identify the Total Gift amount (for example, "Total Gift:").

    3. Enter Text for the Calculate Button (for example, "Calculate")..

    4. Enter Donor Hint text to display when donors click or tab into the field where they can calculate their total gift (for example, "Use the Calculate button to view the total amount of your gift.")..

    5. Enter a Label to display with total donations that will repeat on an ongoing basis. Totals for these donations are displayed to donors on an annualized basis (for example, "per year," or "annually").

  10. Enter an Error Message to display if donors attempt to complete their transactions without entering a gift amount.

  11. Enter an Error Message to display if the gift amount entered by donors is invalid --either an amount that does not meet a specified minimum or a value that cannot be converted to currency.

  12. Click Finish.
