How to Use the Blackbaud Connector in Claude

Interact with the connector by chatting with Claude as you normally do. Claude now has access to your Blackbaud data within the limits you are authorized to access.

Ask naturally – Describe what you need as if you were asking a colleague. For example, ask about a donor, an event, or a donation. Claude uses the connector's tools to fetch the answer without you specifying databases or running queries.

Real-time data –The connector fetches information on-demand from Raiser's Edge NXT, so the data Claude provides is current at the moment you ask. Claude doesn't store your data beyond the current conversation.

Key Capabilities

Once set up, the Blackbaud connector enables Claude to read your Blackbaud data and assist with common tasks. Some of the capabilities available through this integration include the following:

  • Get constituent profile – Retrieve a detailed profile for a specific constituent, including contact info and giving history.

Example: "Show me the profile of Jane Doe."

  • Find a constituent – Search for constituents by name or partial name.

    Example: "Find constituents named Smith."

  • Find an event – Search for fundraising events by name or keyword.

Example: "Find any events titled 'Gala'."

  • View an event – Retrieve details about a specific event, including date, location, funds raised, and participants.

Example: "What are the details of the 2024 Gala event?"

  • View a gift – Get details of a specific gift record, including amount, date, donor, and campaign.

Example: "Tell me about John Doe's $500 donation in July."

  • Generate communications – Create draft communications such as thank-you notes or outreach emails using your data.

Example: "Draft a thank-you email to Jane for her recent $250 donation."

All actions happen through natural language requests to Claude. You don't need to remember tool names or learn a new interface.
