Blackbaud Connector for Anthropic Claude

The Blackbaud Connector is a secure integration that enables Blackbaud customers to access the unmatched data and embedded, sector-specific expertise of their Blackbaud solution within their Claude for Work experience. Powered by the open-standard Model Context Protocol (MCP), it enables users to access and interact with fundraising information — such as donor records, events, and gifts — using natural language commands in Claude’s chat interface. The connector is available for both Claude for Team and Enterprise plans.

You can ask Claude questions or give instructions related to your Blackbaud data. For instance:

“Find John Doe’s contact information and latest gift.”

Claude will then fetch the answer or complete the task by securely calling Blackbaud’s tools behind the scenes.

Tip: The Blackbaud Connector brings Raiser's Edge NXT Chat for Blackbaud AI features into Claude, giving users a seamless way to access familiar capabilities without switching platforms. It’s designed to enhance workflows for those already working in Claude, keeping the experience consistent and easy.

Note: The connector is a Blackbaud-supported native integration for all Raiser’s Edge NXT customers in regions where Raiser’s Edge NXT and Claude for Work Enterprise and Teams plans are supported, requiring no third-party development.

Key Benefits

  • Real-time access to fundraising data

  • No changes required in Blackbaud solutions

  • Secure, role-based data access

  • Streamlined workflows for nonprofit professionals

How It Works

The connector acts as a secure API gateway, exposing specific Blackbaud tools to Claude. Users can ask questions or give instructions in plain language, and Claude will fetch answers or perform tasks by invoking Blackbaud’s capabilities behind the scenes.

Tip: Save time and stay focused — nonprofit campaign managers or other users can quickly get answers without opening Raiser's Edge NXT.

  • Secure API Gateway – The connector acts as a bridge between Anthropic’s Claude and Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge NXT. It uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to expose specific tools — such as searching for donors, retrieving gift details, and generating communications — that Claude can invoke as needed.

  • Natural Language Interaction – Users interact with the connector entirely through Claude’s chat interface. You simply ask questions or give instructions and Claude fetches the answer or performs the task by calling Blackbaud’s tools.

  • No Changes to Blackbaud solutions – All interactions happen within Claude; there are no changes or add-ins inside the Blackbaud solution user interface.
