What happens if a payment is returned after a wire transfer to the destination bank fails?
If a wire transfer fails for organizations based outside of the United States, the following will occur:
-
The organization’s disbursement will be suspended. This also applies to any chapters associated with the organization.
-
Banking details for the organization will be deactivated.
-
An email will be sent to all active Nonprofit Administrators informing them of the issue and prompting them to provide new banking details in NPOconnect.
Note: If your organization is managed by one of our processing partners (CanadaHelps, Haus des Stiftens, etc.), your new banking details should be provided to them instead.
-
If there has been no approved update within 30 days, another outreach email will be sent to active Nonprofit Administrators.
-
If there has been no approved update within 60 days, another outreach email will be sent to active Nonprofit Administrators.
-
If there has still been no approved update within 90 days, the organization’s Eligible for Giving status will be changed to No. Their vetting records will remain active, but they will not be able to receive donations until the issue is resolved. An email will be sent to active administrators informing them that they are no longer eligible for giving through the Blackbaud Giving Fund (BBGF).
After banking details have been updated and approved by the Blackbaud Compliance team, the suspension of disbursement will be lifted. The organization’s Eligible for Giving status will update to Yes as long as their vetting has not expired or been revoked by another entity.
Note: After updating your banking details, you will receive a confirmation email from NPOconnect when the new banking details have been approved or declined. You will continue to receive reminders to update this information until it has been approved.
Warning: If the organization’s vetting expired during the suspension period, the Eligible for Giving status will update to Needs Vetting. They will need to reapply for eligibility before any donations can be disbursed to them.
