Consent Tracking
Consent is permission a constituent provides to your organization to use personal data in a specific way, such as for marketing or communications. With Online Express, you can save opt-in and opt-out information to a constituent's record in Raiser's Edge so it complies with regulations such as the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
To track consent, add solicit code mappings and consent business rules in Raiser’s Edge, and then enable tracking in Online Express. When you enable tracking, you can use email sign up, event registration, and donation forms to offer opt-in and display a default privacy policy.
Note: If you use an email signup form, then at a minimum, you must add a solicit code mapping and consent business rule for the Email channel. For donation and event registration forms, you must include a mapping and consent business rule for at least one channel.
After constituents opt in to receive communications and you download the sign ups, Raiser’s Edge adds consent information to their records. It also uses the business rules to determine which solicit codes to assign or remove.
Note: To enable consent tracking, you must use Raiser’s Edge 7.96 Patch 8 or higher.

From Raiser’s Edge, select Configuration, Business Rules, Constituent options, Consent options.

To add a mapping, select New Mapping.

In the Channel field, select a communication method.
Note: If you use an email signup form, then at a minimum, you must add a solicit code mapping and consent business rule for the Email channel. For donation and event registration forms, you must include a mapping and consent business rule for at least one channel.

In the Category field, select Online Express.

For Response: Opt-out, enter the solicit codes to assign and remove.

For Response: Opt-in, enter the solicit codes to assign and remove.
Tip: To ensure you respect consent preferences from Online Express when you use solicit codes as filters for queries, reports, mailings, and exports, we recommend you follow your Raiser's Edge 7 consent strategy when you map the solicit codes.

Select OK.

From Account, select Integration options.

Select Consent Tracking.

Select Enable consent tracking.

To make the most of a donor's affinity for your organization while they give, you can use donation forms to offer opt-in for your communication channels.

From the Get Started tab when you create a donation form, select Include consent opt-in.

In the Opt-in intro text field, enter a description of how you plan to contact donors.

Under Communication channels to offer, click Select Channels, select the opt-in channels you offer, and click Apply.

Under Opt-in text to display, enter text — such as Opt-in to receive our monthly newsletter — to describe what their consent includes.

To allow registrants to indicate how they'd like you to communicate with them, you can use registration forms to offer opt-in for your communication channels.

From the Get Started tab when you create a registration form, select Include consent opt-in.

In the Opt-in intro text field, enter a description of how you plan to contact registrants.

Under Communication channels to offer, click Select Channels, select the opt-in channels you offer, and click Apply.

When you process sign ups, registration, or donation transactions, Raiser’s Edge adds consent information to constituent records. It also uses the business rule to determine which solicit codes to assign or remove.

From the Donations, Events, or Email marketing dashboard, click Download Transactions or Download Signups .

Link the transactions or signups to constituent records, or create new ones if needed, and process the signups or transactions.

From the Bio 1 tab of a constituent record, select Consent. The consent screen opens and displays all consent collected for the constituent.

When a constituent uses the unsubscribe link in an email to opt out, Online Express adds their email address to the Unusable Emails list. To view the list, select Unusable emails from the Email Marketing Dashboard.
Raiser's Edge automatically adds consent information about opt-outs to constituent records when you navigate to Online Express from Raiser's Edge. It also uses the business rule to determine which solicit codes to assign or remove.
