Funds
Funds represent the donor's intent for how you should use or earmark a gift, such as toward a specific cause or financial purpose. You can use multiple funds to direct gifts toward a specific campaign. For example, a capital campaign for a new building may use separate funds for its design, construction, and landscaping.
Tip: To help motivate fundraisers, your organization may set goal amounts to raise toward specific funds. Under Overview in Work Center, you can view how much your personal fundraising efforts raised toward active funds under Goals. For more information, see Work Center Overview.

As you fund-raise, you may solicit gifts to apply toward a specific fund, or a donor may request their gift go toward a cause they support. To determine the intended use of a gift, you can view which funds it applies to under Fundraising details on its record.
Note: For a gift used across multiple funds, a breakdown of the splits appears, including how much — as both the amount and percentage — applies to each.
Tip: In the database view, you can manage the gift's funds on the Gift tab of its record.

With Prospect Research Management, you can use opportunities to help cultivate relationships and major gifts in support of specific initiatives. When you create an opportunity, you can specify the fund you intend to use any gifts that result from the effort. To determine the intended use of gifts acquired through an opportunity, you can view which default fund they apply to under Details on its record.
To adjust the default fund for the opportunity's gifts, select Edit. For more information, see Opportunity Records.
