Tributes
With the Honor/Memorial Tracking module, you can track details about gifts given in honor, memory, or celebration of a person or cause. For example, donors may donate to your organization — in lieu of buying flowers — to memorialize a recently departed friend, or a married couple may request friends to give to your mission to celebrate their anniversary.
On a gift’s record, you can view details about who the giving commemorates under Tributes. With this information, you can develop strategies to further engage donors who are connected to your organization through honored constituents.

In the Honor/memorial field, you can view the individual or organization — or honoree — who the gift commemorates.
Tip: To receive gifts in tribute to a constituent, select Constituent is an honor/memorial and Gifts may be given to this tribute on the Honor/Memorial tab of their record in the database view.

In the Tribute field, you can view the name — such as “in honor of” or “in memory of” — of the commemoration.
Tip: In the database view, when you add or manage tributes on the Honor/Memorial tab of a constituent’s record, the type you select appears as its name on the gift’s record.

In the Tribute type field, you can view the reason for the commemoration. For example, if you solicit gifts “in honor of” a constituent but receive a gift “for the anniversary of” the individual, the donor’s intent appears as the tribute type. When a donor doesn’t provide their intention, the Tribute and Tribute type fields are the same.
Tip: In the database view, you can manage tribute types from the Honor/Memorial tab of a constituent’s record or the Tributes tab of a gift’s record.

In the Acknowledge field, you can view whether the family members, friends, or associates listed as contacts were notified about the gift.
Tip: In the database view, you can indicate whether you notified contacts about a gift from the Tribute tab of the gift’s record.

In the Acknowledgee field, you can view how many family members, friends, or associates to notify that you received the gift. To view additional details about these contacts, such as their relationships with the constituent or the types of notifications they receive, select View acknowledgees. For more information, see Acknowledgees.
To enable donors to give in tribute from a Raiser's Edge NXT donation form, include tribute fields on the form.

From Tools, Donation form designer, create or edit a form. Under Form, in the Form designer, select Gift information and move Tribute to a location on the form. For details about the options to select, see Donation Form Tribute.
Gifts from donation forms are placed into unapproved batches in Fundraising, Gift Management in web view. When you approve a batch, you can view tribute information from the Tribute tab on the gift batch record.
To manage tributes, such as to associate a gift with a different honoree or notify recipients about gifts, return to the database view and follow your existing processes.
Note: To help you manage tribute records, donation forms check whether donors, the people they are honoring, and recipients have existing records. For details about how forms match or create records, see Automatic Tribute Matching.
