Action Statuses

Action statuses track the progress of a task or interaction and whether it's complete. To track the state of actions, your organization may use either the default completion status or custom status codes.

Default Completion Status

If you use the default completion status, you choose when an action is finished to track whether it's Open, Past due, or Completed. This option is ideal if your organization wants a straightforward, no-fuss way to track action statuses.

Note: Actions are Open until they're marked as Complete or their due date passes and they become Past due. To change the status of a Past due action, change its due date.

Custom Status Codes

If you use status codes, you choose an action's status as it progresses through your organization's workflow. For example, in addition to completion statuses, you may have a status of Assigned for when an action's created for a fundraiser and another of In progress for when work begins. Status codes are a robust and customizable way to track the progress of actions, and are ideal if your organization requires a specific workflow or detailed reporting.

Note: You can set up and manage the available action status codes in the Action Status table from Tables.

Tip: To quickly view the current status of a list of actions, include the Status column. If you use status codes, you can view both your custom status and the action's completion status.

From the record of any constituent or opportunity, admins can set up how your organization tracks action statuses.

Edit an Action's Status

You can edit the status of an action from a list of actions, under Actions on its constituent's record, or under Actions on its opportunity's record.

To edit an action, select Edit action from its menu, choose its new status, and select Save.

Configure Action Statuses

Admins only! To enable fundraisers to track the progress of their tasks and interactions, admins can configure custom statuses for actions.

  1. Under Actions on a constituent's record or Actions on an opportunity's record, select Settings .

  2. Choose whether to use the Completed checkbox or status codes.

    If you use status codes, choose which statuses mean an action's "complete" — such as Done, Completed, or Closed — to also track an action's completion status.

  3. Select Save.
