Appeal Record Analysis

The Analysis tab gives you a visual view of appeal performance, helping you identify response patterns, understand donor behavior, and track revenue movement over time. Instead of scanning rows of data, you can use charts to see trends, compare segments, and make informed decisions based on how a specific appeal is performing.

Use this tab when you want to move from “What happened?” to “Why is it happening?” and “What should we do next?”

What You’ll Find On The Analysis Tab

The Analysis tab brings together chart-based insights focused on appeal-level performance:

  • Filters at the top apply to all charts on the page

  • Visual breakdowns of gifts, donors, and revenue trends

  • Interactive tiles you can expand, collapse, and rearrange

  • Saved layout and filter preferences that restore automatically

This layout helps you explore appeal performance efficiently without rebuilding lists or reports.

Filters

At the top of the page, filters let you control what data you’re analyzing across the Analysis tab.

  • Use the Gift date filter to focus your analysis on a specific period, such as This Fiscal Year (default), Last Fiscal Year, This Calendar Year, or Last Calendar Year.

  • Use the Revenue type filter to choose whether to include only received revenue from cash-in-hand giving or to also include committed revenue from pledges and matching gifts. By default, results show Received revenue.

These defaults differ from the Overview tab so you can analyze longer-term appeal performance by default.

As you change filters, all tiles update instantly so you can compare results across time periods or revenue contexts without leaving the tab.

What Each Analysis Tile Shows

Giving By Constituent Code

This chart shows how giving to the appeal is distributed across constituent codes.

It includes all constituency codes associated with each donor — not just the primary code — giving you a more complete picture of who is giving.

Use it to:

  • Identify which audiences are driving appeal revenue

  • Compare participation and dollars across segments

  • Inform future targeting and messaging decisions

Gifts By Gift Amount

This chart shows how gifts to the appeal are distributed across your organization’s defined giving levels by gift amount.

Use it to:

  • Understand whether the appeal is driven by many smaller gifts or fewer major gifts

  • Evaluate whether the appeal is producing the intended gift profile

  • Support planning for upgrades or donor growth

Gifts By Gift Type

This chart shows the breakdown of gifts by type, such as recurring, one-time, pledge, and other configured gift types.

Use it to:

  • Understand how much appeal revenue is immediate versus future-oriented

  • Assess predictability of results

  • Support retention and follow-up strategies

Donors By Cumulative Giving

This chart groups donors by their cumulative giving to the appeal.

Use it alongside Gifts By Gift Amount to:

  • Identify which tiers have the most donors versus the most revenue

  • Spot high-value donor cohorts

  • Understand depth of donor engagement

This view emphasizes donor quality and participation, not just gift volume.

Received And Projected Revenue By Month

This bar chart compares received and projected revenue month by month.

Use it to:

  • Track pacing and seasonality

  • Plan against expected commitments as well as confirmed gifts

  • Identify months where performance diverges from expectations

Cumulative Received And Projected Revenue

This line chart shows cumulative received revenue compared to projected cumulative revenue over time.

Use it to:

  • Evaluate overall momentum toward appeal goals

  • Spot gaps between projections and actual results early

  • Support forecasting and planning discussions

This chart often serves as the headline trend view, with the other tiles explaining why it looks the way it does.

How The Tiles Work Together

The Analysis tab provides the most value when tiles are used in combination:

  • Giving By Constituent Code + Gifts By Gift Amount: Reveal who is responding and at what level.

  • Donors By Cumulative Giving + Gift Type: Explain donor depth and revenue quality.

  • Monthly And Cumulative Revenue Charts: Show timing, pacing, and progress over time.

Together, these views turn appeal-level data into actionable insight that supports smarter decisions about targeting, messaging, and follow-up.
